Meet Grecia – Durham Tech Student AY 2021/2022

“My education is a non-negotiable deal I have with myself.”

Grecia Villarreal Soules
Pursuing Associate in Arts Degree
Academic Goal: Transfer to a 4-year university

“My career goals include becoming a pediatric surgeon with a background in business administration. I strive to interlace my interest of medicine and business so I can one day open my own clinic that centers around giving back to my community, specifically low-income students, and families by offering free clinic hours, sponsoring community events, or taking prospective medical students under my wing. Ultimately, I wish to work towards a place in my career and life, where I will be able to help and uplift others, my background of also being a first-generation college student that comes from a low-income family gives me the perspective and comprehension to work with the people in my community. I hope to create a culture of giving, so I can give others the opportunities of obtaining an education and career. This scholarship will give me the financial and mental security to continue my education and it will aid in alleviating my anxiety and insecurity that is common around the start of a new semester. Most of all, this scholarship will assist in reaching my academic and career goals in the future by giving me the security I need right now, financially, mentally, and physically; my education is a non-negotiable deal I have with myself. To ensure I am in the best mental head space to truly excel in my studies at Durham Tech, I will use this scholarship to assist in striving to reach my goals.”
