Lori Bunton serves on our program committee. She also serves as Co-President of the ERA-NC Alliance. Members of ERA-NC Alliance including several members of various AAUW-NC branches converged outside the Department of Justice to protest Attorney General Merrick Garland’s failure to rescind the Office of Legal Counsel’s 2020 opinion instructing the National Archivist to refrain from publishing the ERA as the 28th Amendment. Lori reports: “Alliance members waved their signs at the tinted windows of various SUVs and limos … including Merrick Garland’s black-tinted SUV.” Activists from Minnesota, Maryland and New Jersey were also present. Equal Means Equal organized this summer’s 2021 ERA Sentinel Project. Lori says, “We learned from an employee in the DOJ that the protest was attracting a lot of attention inside the DOJ.” Thank you, Lori!
